fj40 disc brakes

Post by Mudute »

Hi,
Iv got a Fj40 drum brake set up on my crusier, Iv also got a number of 84/85 hilux front solid axle with disc set ups, the crusier is a bush truck never to go
On the road, will I be able to directly swap the disc, callipers and brackets over on to the crusier front from the hilux?

Cheers

i *THINK* so.. never done it myself but remember reading people using hilux gear. You will possibly need the master cyliner too as it suits disk front drum rear..

Yes it will all bolt on, I did it with mine. From memory the only thing thing I had to change was I put the Hilux cvs onto the 40 series axle shafts (this won't work if you've got a very early 40 with coarse spline axles) But I basically I used everything Hilux from the swivel hubs out.
I used steering arms off a later bj40 79-84 can't remember exactly why but the originals didn't fit and the Hilux rod end taper was bigger. I did also convert it to crossover power steering with a 70 series box at the same time
