Balancing Tyres

Post by Sasd 22 »

hey guys,
Has anyone heard about putting glass beads in your rims instead of wheel weights to balance them?

Nearly spat my tea out.

Guys with big tyres swear by them - 37" and over. I only use knock on lead on my wheels though.

google is your friend

meanwhile, you'll get more help if you give more info.
eg What size tyres,
what type of rims,
what tyre construction, Radial or cross ply,
what have you tried previously, lead wheights/ rotate tyre on the rim?
what do you use the tyres/rim combo for, daily driver? trailered to comps? weekend warrior driven to the tracks?

Late entry
I have some beads in 275/65/17
They do work for sure - BUT seem to settle or get stuck and cause serious vibrations
Just have to thump each tyre and they free up and balance well again for a while
Problem is this needs to be done pretty frequently

Could be the tyre brand or ribs inside dunno, but after a tap they work great, actually able to re balance a wheel full of mud
