Has any one discovered the trick when changing filters how NOT to coat the block, diff, and everything else below in oil while changing the filters?
its not that bad, i only get a slight dribble down the block, but what i do is take the car for a short drive to warm it up a bit, get home, while its warm, pull the sump plag and let it drain, normally i go and do something else for a couple of hours, when i go back, i get another drain pan, and sit it under the oil filters ontop of the diff, wind em off heaps quick and put in another pan, do the same with the next, wipe up any mess before it dribbles over the block, and replace it all

Not recommended but i've seen people do it.....
1. drain oil
2. sit in car and start
3. wait till oil pressure gauge starts dropping and light comes on, stop engine.
4. remove and replace filters
5. refill with oil
6. start engine and wait for eternity for oil pressure to arrive, hopefully pump primes itself and pressure does arrive......
now you know why you do your own services.......

Geez thats a lot of effort & time. Easier to put a drain tin under it then wash it with degreaser when your finished

Drain oil from sump.
Put plastic supermarket bag over front diff.
Replace sump plug.
Move oil cont under bag.
Remove filters and lift up so oil stays in them.
Wipe exposed block with a rag.
Replace filters.
Replenish oil.
Remove bag and oil cont.
Spray any left over mess with degreaser, ($1:70 a large aerolsol at Supercheap) Hose off.
Have a beer.
