fitting gas and getting it approved?

Post by mlowe76 »

Hi guys

I have come across a gas kit for my cruiser (straight off a mates cruiser) exact same car. (3f motor)

Now i'm wondering do I have to get it approved? who buy? how much roughly?

Any advice?

I dont want to commit to buying it to find out its useless or too expensive to get approved or something along those lines:)

Thanks
matt

Hay Matt,

I believe that the gas system needs to be installed by a licensed gas fitter and then certified by workcover as you will now be carrying a dangerous goods sticker on your vehicle. If the gas tank is 10 yrs or older vthen it needs to be pressure tested and re-certified. Sorry don't know about prices, but there are numerous LPG installers around and a new system costs @ $2000, give or take a couple of hundred.

If your Mechanically inclined, you can fit it yourself. aslong as everything is done properly and to spec, take it in and have it complianced. I pay about 80$ for it to be complianced.
