hi there,
i apologise in advance for the length of this post....but here goes!
last sunday I was 4wding at Toolangi [near melb] and drove in to a bog/puddle thing that was level with the bottom of the headlights of my lifted AE95 corolla 4wd [1.5" spring lift and 2" increase in tyre diameter if anyones interested :-) ]. This corellated with 'seated bum' height when it flowed in to the car. Stripped interior on monday.
This was a fairly unpleasant introduction to the otherwise fun world of offroading, but I'm very interested in learning as much as I can about the workings of my car and plan to make the most of a bad situation!
engine warning light is flashing - I know what to do to get the diagnostic codes, but i'm wondering what other things I should check [planning to do work on Saturday] - i figure by then most wet areas will have dried out...
when starting up the starter motor is making a fairly harsh noise?...
she's labouring a bit - i figure this is related to the engine warning light, but it could also be for other reasons....
- rear drums could be full of mud
- wet spark plugs [some water got in the intake, which is level with the top of the headlights]
- ECU is buggered [it got drowned] - would the car still run, even in 'limp home mode' if the ECU was actually shagged? - we drove home
- engine damage from water
- water somewhere I havent thought of [none in headlights]
any other ideas of things I should check/replace etc?
there is no water in the oil
I'll post a couple of pics when my mate emails them to me....for some laughs....
cheers
Tim

Mud in the starter motor?
It wont be long b4 the starters rooted.
get a snorkel.
Do your diagnostics test b4 u guess
Engine damage - petrols have a lesser chance of damage from water unless revvin very high when goin too deep.
Goin to be fun when you've sorted out the issues and go out again with the knowledge from ya experience
