Supra Conversion - Pics

Post by suprasurf »

There seems to be quite a very posts about different conversion options around for Lux's so I thought some pics of a recent Supra conversion would show the nice fit of the M series engines. ( pics are a 5M-GE )

The ugly hoses for the air box and AFM are temp because the Lux already had the snorkle on the passengers side. A drivers side snorkle would tidy this up alot.

The conversion took 3 nights to complete after the old drizzle donk was removed. The only parts purchased were a new exhaust, cam belt, clutch, oil and filter. The radiator also had the top and bottom hose fittings swapped.

Man give a guy a break
Always nice to give your customers a nice presentation.

OK trail stuff !

Download the file below. See and hear Lux + Supra getting a bit of a rev up, as you'll see they can scream quite well and do run sweet on angles. And yes they do crawl well especially with duals. Ill try and do some other vids later

Vid doesn't do much justice to the angle and steepness of climbs but you'll get the idea !

and overall cost...

if u can do all or any of this it is greatly appreciated

Are you buying front cuts to get all the gear for these conversions?
Where are you sourcing the manual bellhousings?
Dont know anywhere i could get hold of a 84model Soarer manual peddle box?

Nice work!

Those "Flap Type" Air Flow Meters are a pain in the bum to mount somewhere. I sat mine in the same spot as you have yours but later moved it over to where your filter box is and used a highflow foam unifilter. I dont have a snorkel though.

Anyway, 3 days...very impressed. ARMS UP!

Cheers,
Nick

I try to pick up a whole manual car if I can, but I have chased down the odd manual bellhousings at local wreckers ( picked one up yesterday ). The bugga is when the wreckers sell the W58 for a V8 conversion or whatever they usually sell the bellhousing with it and the bellhousing then gets removed and tossed

I would think that the Soarer and Supra pedals are the same ?? I have a whole Supra ( no motor + box ) that I could pull the pedal box from ?? You can have it free if you pay freight to Oz ??

Heh Bundy, The AFM is a bummer, also a snorkle over here is damned near compolsery :)
