HELP!!!

Post by ferrit »

I have a serious problem

The center driveshaft bearing on my rodeo was stuffed, so i pulled it off to replace it. Got all the rubber frame off it without too much problems, but as i was pulling the bearing off, it disintergrated and left me with the inner race stuck on the shaft.

i cant shift it, no matter what i try, it wont budge.

does ANYONE have a bearing press, Access to a bearing press or know of a place with a bearing press thats open tomorrow, in Canberra.

I am REALLY desperate here, cos i got a non mobile vehicle, parked behind someone elses work vehicle which they need on monday!!!!!

maybe angle grind old inner race off, or hacksaw or banging with a sharp chisel till it splits? putting new bearing on can sometimes be achieved by heating up the new bearing in cooking oil, then carefully dropping it in place before it cools, but dont touch hot bits

and tho its ruff, you could leave inner race where it is, and put new outer race and bearings in (not always possible with some bearings) ...this is only an emergency fix, best to do it properly if ya can.

inner race is not gonna ever be able to be used again, missing chunks of steel!

Ive got around the prob of the work truck. mates coming round to tow mine out of the way, we will shift the other vehicles, and put mine at the front of the queue.

And looks like ill have to wait till monday to get this bearing replaced

Grind a flat on race.

Hit with a sharp cold chisel.

WEAR EYE Protection.

It will split at grind.
