Hi guys i have a 82 LWB patrol and am seriously considering removing the original seats and putting something a bit more modern and comfortable.

The original seats although they are the best i have ever seen are a bit of a pain with the small drivers seat and the too big to be practicle 2/3rds seat.

What i want is two seats that are reasonably easy to install and are nice and comforable on long trips. Anyone done this before?? Any info would be great.

i put lexus seats in real bitch heaps of cutting drilling and grinding, gq seats fit i belive, halls have a set of seven leather ones for about 700

No No nothing too fancy just basically a comfortable chair.

Not leather, i would stuff it up on one fishing trip!!!

pretty sure the ones from a 200B will fit from memory, found it on another forum, i'll be looking for some myself soon, may have been 180b if not.
Don't know how comfortable they are though, but maybe you could use your base and bolt another seat to it??
I had an 83 bluebird trx once and they were nice seats, velour, plenty of padding and a fair bit of lateral support.
May be similar, same era and make, nissans are pretty interchangeable.

You can easily use the base from the stock seats and then use a huge number of seats from anything found in a junkyard or in the aftermarket. I plan to use Master Craft 3g's in the front of my 83 MQ. I have studied it and they will work easily. The center console is not going to be there any more though, will be a new one overhead. The e-brake is the only thing that can be a prob. Easy to move it to the center though instead of offset to drivers side. All you have to do is take the old hardware off the stock seats, then custom make brackets to bolt that hardware to what ever seats you choose. The console and e-brake are the only things that will limit you....plus the length of the butt on the seat. If the butt area is to long you knees will be in the dash....

Ive done a few different seat change overs in my shorty and ive settled down with Recaro buckets modified to sit ontop of the standard MQ rails.
They are hard but im used to em, i like them sitting up as high as they do and they keep your back straight enough to maintain some kind of posture.

Dig around and see if u can find a pair of seats from a later model MQ shorty ( 85 on ). They have much softer and more confy seats and they arnt that crappy vynal stuff either, they are a material of some sort and they will be a cheap and easy as bolt up fix to ur problem.

nissan navara seats bolt straight up. Got a pair 4 sale as well $150 + freight

I guess u could almost put in anything aslong as u were prepared to do a bit of welding and grinding to get them to fit. Gonna go down to the wreckers soon and see what i can pick up.

Might even consider a re-upholstering depending wether i will get the comfiness that i want:)
