Just some news

Post by grimbo »

Well I moved the Zuk out of the shed under its own power yesterday, all the lights work, the mud flaps are on the tyres are covered by flares, the brakes work even the handbrake sort of. New windscreen is in, new wiper blades are on. Fingers are crossed hopefully it will go in for its rwc on friday

Why ??
So you can spend 3 times the amount to get a less flexiable solution ??

den it's time to cruise tommo mate ... when is da fin goin on da Zuk ..

Apart from the toibo I am still curious ???

Turbo a 1.3 GTI motor it will hold huge revs has EFI and works easily with the existing gearbox and engine mounts ... and will make quite a bit of usable power at many points in the rev range ...

Along with the ease of finding parts and good technical advice ..

If I were to ever build another Zuk, that would be the way I would go .. EFI, easy to work on and easy to find .. and the all the sneezing I could ever want .. :D

working out the gearbox\driveline angles is to much of a PITA .. in a LWB it would probarbly be good ..

But the GTI motor would have to be easier to get an engineers cert for .. as there would be no structural mods under the bonnet, it would be on factory mounts ..

EFI vitara would also be factory mounts and gearbox (with adaptions)...

I still reckon that's the logical swap.

So do I change the thread heading to "Steve's Engine dilemma" instead of focussing on me? :D I too have Suzuki issues that need addressing

The reason I say GTi over vit motor is the vit motors weaker rods, the Gti motor with S3 and diff gears will hold up to sustained reving and much higher revs than the 1.6 will ...

The 1.3 Gti motor is redlined at about 7000rpm from memory ..

But the efi 1.6 is still a very good swap .. (even the carb 1.6 pulls very well, just gets some issues on the big angles)

Conrods are kinda small .. and these motors suffer detonation pretty bad a the best of times ... Also its a pretty simple swap really .. all engine mounts etc are there, still the same size engine (for ease of engineering purpose's)

Idealy the 1.8 stroker kit for the 1.6 would be nice .. but then again so would the $$ to purchase it ..

I reckon that Joey with the SR20 motor is on a pretty good thing, torque as well as rpm ... and the option of a hair dryer ..

does that mean bad things for the EFI/blower kit for the 1.3? or just that smoking 33s with the locker in isn't advisable?? :D
