Ive got a Warn XD9000 and it sounded a bit 'dry' last time I ran it. I was wondering if I could service it myself. Could I just open it up and re-greese the internals ? Or should I just pay the $200 and get it serviced ?
Your choice! 4wd monthly ran a thing on servicing a winch and making it better for comps and the like. Personally I'd pay the $200 unless you have done something like this before just in case your not prepared for bearings to run away on you , still if you have the time !!!!!
don't mean to hijack mate.. but scott (83lux) was telling me about some directions to fix my clutch so it would free spool.
anyone have something that could help?

yeah after reading the artical, i may know a bit more, but would still pay the $200
I stripped and rebuilt my 8274 with no prior knowledge of winches. Had the help of some tech articles from the net and help from some phone calls but from it. I had a rebuilt winch and a winch I knew all about when it came to further trail fixes and the like.
They are dead simple things to service and once you have done it once its childs play ....... you could then charge $200 to others to do theirs..... I do !

anyone got documents / diagrams for a high mount 8274 i think it is that can be sent via email or put up online somewhere or if ther is any online allready?

OH btw.. just saw on the nissangq patrol mailin list - someone mentioned that the next issue of 4wd montly - the june 2004 has the warn 8274 rebuild info in there.. guess ill wait for my subscription to come thru.
