when cutting coils, will the heat generated affect the coil? as in lots of heat makes metal more brittle, and therefore more prone to snapping or breaking, i hear sometimes this happens when coils are reset for different heights.
example, i have a coil thats too long, i cut it with a drop saw/angle grinder, whchever, would the reduce the strength of the metal/coil?
thanks

Yes and it may ruin the sring rate if the springs are of the variable rate kind. It is also illegal from an RTA point of veiw. Spend the money & buy the set suitable for the applications. The springs will work better & you will be happier with them.
Don't ask me, ask them. I'm just runnin for my life myself.

the heat induced into the sprin when cutting is not enough to change the spring rate or the temperament of the metal. when a spring rate is changed a serious amount of heat and cooling is required.
however, the spring rate may change due to the removal of said part and the distance of travel, especially if it is of variable spring rate to start with.
my advice as an engineer is to go buy the right ones for the job if you intend to use it on the road.
my tuppence ha'penny worth....
