new supercheap compressor
Supercheap have a new 12V compressor in stock that claims 72 litres/minute (2.5 cfm), priced at $170.
If the claimed output is accurate, that's not bad.
Anyone seen one of these in use yet?

I saw it in use on Sunday, guy was real proud of it, didn't get past one 35 muddie, before over heating, was running at 16psi back to 30psi, took 9 minutes but it started the second and then stopped. High output but its componets are still cheap. damm side better quality some of their stuff but no match on the hardcore gear we use in our rigs.
Not sure if it the same one from over here, WA.
We have one for $149 with about same specs. I have one and seems to work ok. Done my tyres 235/75/15, from 10-30 a couple of times now.
cheers

I got a super creep compressor paid $99 for it .. It managed to re-seat two of my 35 inch claws has pumped up the patrols 285's quite a few times and on saturday did 5 750x16 road grippers to 35 psi without a break ..
would I buy another .. probrably ..
Or I may buy a "good brand name" unit and keep the one I have as a spare ..

Yeah.
This is definitely a new item for Supercheap, hasn't been in stock for more than about a fortnight (in Brisbane at least), and it is quite a bit more solid than the previous top-of-the-range compressor they had, which is claimed to draw 23 amps - can't recall what the cfm claim is for it but it's a lot less than 72 litres/minute. I suspect the one referred to as $149 is the old 23A one, not this new one (30A).
The reason I was asking is that by appearance (and weight etc) it looks a lot better than their other units.
Anyway. I'll prolly just put in a belt-driven compressor... one day...

buy it if you want to pay foranother one in a coupla weeks time. . . . Had one of the blitz compressors did two tyres then shat it self. I then pulled it apart to see what was wrond and i couldnt fond one bearing on the whole unit. They mak em super cheap coz they use the cheapest part they can find with 9/10 times means that the quallity is supershit.

The other two they sell here in Sydney are 35L/min and 40L/min. I guess they are ok for what they are designed for, the occational top up of standard tyres. I wonder how the 72L/min would go if supplying a 9L air tank?

It may be sh1t gear but it serves the NORMAL people who drive the average family car or try hard hot rod.
We are not your average people, we are the top performers and as such need the top quality gear.
Super cheap serve their intended purpose and that is to supply cheap gear.
You as an educated buyer, just need to sift through the crap to find what is worth buying.
Cheers Carl.
P.S This is not an add for Super Cheap.

Just as a comparo, i use one of the supercheap ones for the air lockers. It was about $99 on special & has never missed a beat. It pumps to a modified receiver drier under there as well. And yes it does fit JUST. However I would not use it to do a tyre, but I think the ARB pressure switch cuts out at 105psi i think, but it only a small tank. I get about 40 shots out of it for one locker.
Cheers

I Luv Supercheap stuff. It's as it says - cheap. Buy an angle grinder and use the heck out of it. When it dies - get another.
Comparo - Well know brand name that has a dark green casing. Lasts 2 years and cost $135.00 before internally crapping itself.
Lesser known brand that has a grey casing lasts 6 months and costs $12.50 before burning out.
Almost a case of buy 4 and get 2 free......
Ohh and just in case you missed it. The gray case unit has a warranty of 12 months. So when it dies you take it back. They replace it!
The green case is looking rather sick in money terms....they send it back for repairs and can take weeks to return. The grey case is replaced while U stand there.....
Lost the plot here for a while. Seems that Super Cheap have a policy that means the compresor units that fail (240V motor type) get scrapped. Too expensive to ship and repair - and return. Soooooo. Head to SC and ask to be contacted when a compressor unit is returned. Buy it super cheap (pun) complete with switches valves and other goodies and use it as a storage tank coupled with your "endlessair" old airconditioner pump...

Welcome to our THROW-AWAY society. Buy some cheap crap and just replace it when it craps itself. I would much rather invest good dollars into something i know is gonna work EVERY time i pick it up, like mj said the last thing u want to happen is to be in the middle of a job when the shops are closed and have it stuff up on ya!!

I have brought some stuff from there. There elec stuff is just as good as the crap they sell at autobahn etc just cheaper. Globes I have brought have lasted just as long as those brought else where (mind you last lot where brought from autopro and they where cheapest).
I have a super cheap compressor pumping into my arb compressors air tank, cos the arb one crapped itself (it was 12yrs old - so I aint complaining to much here, it broke the shaft off the motor). It works well for the intended purpose.
ARB compressors have issues also and they arnt cheap for what they do. Know of people that have had them rebuilt/replaced a couple of times.
My dads Bigred crapped itself also.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY....
I've got a grinder from Supercheap ($35) that I chopped the bottoms of the rear guards off of the Mav', and a $16 jigsaw from Crazy Clark's that I used to cut the material to fill the holes the first mod made.
They're both still going strong, and when they do die, I'll buy 'em again!!
