Odd noise.

Post by ShinyDiscoBalls »

Howdy,

Bought my 2000 Disco last week and it has developed a rattle at start up. It's a metallic type rattle that goes for half a second when the engine first ignites. Seems to be coming from under the dash.

Any ideas?

:?: Probably just metal on metal before the oil has circulated?

My ford does the same thing on start up.

It is the loose valve train before the lifters pump up. Lifters are hydraulic Check that you have proper weight and quality oil in there.

Thanks Guys,

I might get the service department to change the oil when I go in for the ABS recall on Thursday.
