Has anyone bought 4x4 parts in Thailand

I am after places in Thailand that sell 4x4 accessories , especially suspension.

So if any one who has been there knows of any, it would be greatly apreciated.

Can I ask why? The quality of some of the stuff I have seen is pretty booty fab, appearance ahead of function is definetly the norm

yeah i understand that its pretty much appearnace ahead of function, but i am after a hilux IFS lift kit and so thats really what im after.

just seeing if i can pick one up there cheaper than the US.

I ahve found that your first expense is often you best .. get a good kit form a reputable reseller safe in the knowledge that everything you need is there and if you have any issues that you have the added benefit of technical support etc ..

Thats what would be doing anyway ..

yeah mate i agree, however the mark up on these kits in australia is rediculous. a Superlift kit sells for 1200 in the US, sells for 4000 here. so i am looking at ways around this mark up.

Exchnage rate, import duty, taxes.

Its not as much as you think.

But yes, if you can bring it in yourself while you are travelling it does work out cheaper, (if you avoid customs).

yeah exchange rate was factored in, and freight and inport duty werent as much as i expected they would be.

But i was gunna try and get it while i am over there and bring it back.

Does any one know of any places there that would be good for a look??

Sitting in the back of a mates garage is a complete lift kit for a 1990 onwards Surf including springs, shocks etc etc ..... which you could have for $NZ500

is it IFS, with rear leaf springs. cause i was sure the surfs had coils.

Guys a mate of mine orderd a full Rancho 9 stage kit from the states two weeks ago, cost him $400 AUS including shipping for 4 2" shocks. as it's jsut a touch under $400 apparently won't be done for tax ?! will see though.
thats for a 4runner/Surf setup.
HEAPS cheaper than buying it here.

4 shocks is alittle different to a complete sub frame and 4 A arms, plus steering components.

Postal: $1000 per consignment
Non-postal: $250 per consignment.


GST applies to most imported goods. There are few exemptions from the GST, the main ones being certain basic foodstuffs, some medical aids and appliances and imports that qualify for certain customs duty concessions.
