Bull bar production

im going to attempt to build a bar very very similar to the arb bar out of steal has anyone done similar surely its not that hard and it would be saving me bout 600 bucks i reakon cause steal is cheap enough to buy.
what thickness does it have to be i was thinking 3-4mm thick would be strong enough but thats just guessing any advice or ideas???

as long as there are no sharp edges to harm pedestrians it should be right

saying that, i reckon you should make a tube front bumper, it'll be heaps easier than trying to copy the arb design

yeh ive thought about it but i dont see anything had in making an arb one its pretty simple ive got a press dad made then bends anything really and ill get the pipes bend at an exhuast place. ive considered a tube bar but i dont really like the look of em well the ones ive seen anyways..

I have a preference for a tube bumper. I think it's lighter and looks trick. Doing one like Zoltan's but for a Zook would look sweet. But then again, I'd do anything to distance myself from the ARB crowd.

There are some really nice tube bumpers about .. one day when I grow up big and get a garage of my own .. or when I can hijack someone elses for long enough I would like to build on .. lots of strength very little weight.

Just like a Zuk should be ...

I believe the ARB Vitara bar is 3mm plate and the tube is 2.6 mm but I don't know the diameter. Some people say the ARB is too light but it's built to within the weight limit recommended by Suzuki. 3.25 steel might be the go if your rockhopping.

i perfer damo's idea, fantastic clearance and aproch angle, spidertrax make a great looking front bar like this for the zuk.

It will depend on what you want to use the bar for.

If your into serious ROCK than a tube bar is the way to go, light weight and super strong the ARB design seems to get bashed around to much.

When you make it use good heavy wall tube (4mm) i have seen ARB bars just crumble as they are mainly 3mm wall and some 2.5mm wall.

It is also easier to build a tube bar to suit a winch.

Thats another point are you considering a winch if so get the dimensions so you dont have to redo you bar when you get a winch
