4.0 with 3.5heads and EFI?

Ok i have been offered a brand new 4.0 short motor at a reasonable price to replace my 3.5 bottom end with a snapped crank.

Has anyone fitted the 3.5heads and Flap style EFI to the 4.0 bottom end?
Are there any problems im going to have? Will it all bolt straight on?

I know the heads of a carby 3.5 fit, you just leave out one row of head bolts on the outside, i had to modify the a/c bracket for the side main bolt, and there's a dowl in the crank that wasn't in my fly wheel, but that was about it.

Started the car for the first time last night, so haven't really had a chance to drive it yet. There's a problem with the new clutch so it'll be after the weekend before i get that sorted out. Apart from an exhaust leak and a few other little things it seems good.

I put a 4.6 short motor in my 84 rangie a few years ago. I used the 3.5 heads.

Can't really add much to what Peter said. I made the mistake of not drilling the block for the breather at the back and had to fit a drop out box for the breathers from the rocker covers.

$2000 for a brand new short block from torak tractors. But i ended up buying a complete early disco 3.5efi with ZF and LT230 for the same money.
