trying to decided what air compressor to buy for my truck, will be used to pump tyres up for now, eventually to run lockers
I will run an air tank too.
are the 12 volt units good enough or is endless air/ air con compressor converted better ??
ARB, Big Red, blue tougne, whats best ??

I dont normally worry about flat tyres etc if the motor wont run tho ..

Been stuck in mud and used an airbag to get the nose back up but had to do it without exhaust. Could of started engine, but wasn't going to take the risk of killing the diesel, so used the 12V to air up and then drove up and out on the planks that I now carry for this reason Been caught before learnt real quick.

Nah the fan wont paddle to much at idle speeds 700 to 900 rpm the fan will hardly move if it is viscous coupled especially if surrounded by water ...
Mine didnt even paddle all that much at mach 2 engine speeds (6000rpm and more) ..

Thanks Mud, wasn't going to take the risk at the time though. 
Got started on making my snorkel, doing the exhaust at the same time so killing two birds with one stone so to speak. both will be done 2½" SS.
As for the comp will eventually seal the engine bay up better than what it is. The advantage of the 12v is its portable outside of the vehicle where the endless air and aircons arn't, you need a air hose for it to be portable

The best would have to be one of the continous (sp) duty jobbers like the big yank one on the hummers ..
The Clisby woudld be alright as well I guess (check out big balls for info and $) it looks beefy and sure huffs out some air ... it draws an ungodly number of amps.
The Blue touges have a good name and from what I heve seen of em last well and arent that slow (the twin tounge with two compressor heads is pretty quick) ..

Gotta get off my backside and get that little arb setup so that it can inflate tyres - currently it has no "hose port" to hook up to.
In reality though - the little arb is doing the job pretty nicely.

We use the Viaircorp units for our traction control units and these work fantastic with no failures as yet. The lockless runs this and its also mounted out in the wether on top of the rear mounted radiator with no problems so far.
I used to run one with my Airlockers but now run an engine driven compressor.

Its a converted AC compressor just like most Engine driven compressors.
