How much for second hand injected 3.9?

Hi I have a P76 4.4 ready for a rebuild and more I look into it the more
it seems like a expensive way to go. Can anyone tell me how much a injected 3.9 would cost on average. Any help would be great.

I have heard of blokes pickingh them up for around $1500, but they had a few k's on it (over 200,000 kms).

Good ones would fetch as a guess around the $2500 mark for a good low milage example. Someone here may have picked up one cheaper and done well out of it.

This is a better option than the P76. I fell thst there is a mixed result in these conversions, some swear by them, some despise them. It's seems that it's how it set up that determins if they work or not.

As far as fuel injection goes, great stuff. Although some here beg to differ, I can go on first hand experience. My 92 angie has 271,000 kms on it and never missed a beat as far as the EFI side goes. The big ends still original and delivers near new compression, top end was overhauled at around 220,000 kms.

Anyway, something to think about. Good luck whichever way you go.

Trav if you can find me one complete with efi and computer for $2500 i would be interested.

I have just spent the last 2 weeks trying to find a cheap one. Best price i have found is $4000 for a complete runner with warrenty. I have now bought another EFI 3.5 untill i find a cheap one.

However if you are only looking to run Carbs on it you may be lucky and find a damaged long engine. I bought a 3.9 that needed timming case and the EFI manifold was smashed for $750 last year with 3 months warrenty and im running it in my Hilux with no problems at all with 3.5carbs and manifold.

LRA in melbourne apparently have 2 3.9's forsale.... one only has 70k on it

I have the EFI computer and bits forsale ATM and can arrange a wiring loom.

I built a 3.9 just over 6 months ago and picked up a short motor that had been recoed and never run with 12 months warranty for $2200 cash form a Land Rover dealer.....

From my old 3.9 to the newly rebuilt 3.9 i was happy with the proformance on and off road but i put a dynatech cam in it so i don't know if that made all the difference... My rangie is currently getting dynotuned as i have installed a Wolf3D into it for more proformance and fuel eccounmy (i hope)

So for under 3K i would say you could build a 3.9 motor if you have the heads and computer equipment just look around!!!!

Mick, Thanks for the info as I think it would cost me as much as $3000 + to rebuild the P76 motor.So it gives me another option.

An EFI 3.9 would be a much better option to spend your money on. More responsive and generaly as much power.
