you live, you learn. i'm closer to finding my ideal rig now than when i had my IFS wagon. it's all part of the process. i'm sure all your cars were perfect to start with, and you never bought anything that was unnecessary.
I think if you looked at two average Joes, one who had built one rig and one who had built 2-4 rigs
The latter is going to have a better idea of what works for him, IMO its not a case of building something that works its a case of building something that works for the person who has to drive it.

sorry guys having your air intake inside the cabin is actually illegal. I was considering it with the feroza and when i asked a mechanic mate he said that its not allowed coz it sucks the oxygen out of the car that you need to breathe and can draw in exhaust fumes. this is not a prob woth a softtop but in a well sealling hardtop think of the vacumn effect it could have. Not to mention if car backfired !! Now thats a way to remove hairs off ya legs

So why do you want a snorkel in the first place, as no one has asked that yet? The stock Sierra air intake is actually one of the best ones around. It takes the air from up behind the battery against the firewall. It is only when you fully submerge the car or really power through an obstacle that it becomes the major issue.
I put a snorkel on mine because of the engine swap and because of the river crossings and bogholes i was doing in my driving then
snorkles are used by some for the cleaner air available up higher, ie in dusty road convoys etc. some use them for the cooler air available outside of engine bay...saying that, I need to turn off my snorkle on winter nights, or carby freezes up. christover.

i want a snorkel cause i live in MELBOURNE ( wet soggy place it is but a lotta fun) plus i have a tendancy of driving through deep water and do a lot of river crossings when camping. Killed 2 engines in previous 4x4 b4 gettin a snorkel. some of the zook club boys have seen the way i do water crossings ( flat out with a run up )
No wonder you've killed engines before. great way to destroy a lot of components. Not only do you run the risk of sucking water but you can push the fan into the radiator, force water past seals, bend stuff as water is a very strong substance and will break stuff.
So a snorkel will help the water intake problem and less right foot will help stop other problems
but the yota is a hardtop but has no carpet .. what do I do now ??
