EFI Vitara Engines and Computers - Auto and Manual

Post by greg »

Folks,

Is there any difference with the 1.6L EFI Vitara Motors that come with Auto or Manual Gearboxes?

Is there any difference witht he Computers that come with either of these two gearboxes.

In other words - if the eventual aim is a 1.6L Vitara Engine with EFI and a Sierra 5 Speed gearbox behind it, will an engine and computer that came with an Auto gearbox be usable?

Thanks

Depending on the box behind the motor .. if it was a non poota 3 speed then yep .. even a poota'd 4 speed auto should still be workable .. :? I think ..

You don't think it will behave a little strangely without the input coming from the Auto gearbox to the engine?

I guess the other question is - can anyone confirm that the computers are different between an Auto or Manual vitara?

Yes I have done it and can confirm that you should not have any problems running an auto G16 in your sierra.

Dunno Antt. I haven't found an engine yet, but i just wanted to know if both computer types would be compatible for what i want, or if i needed to increase my search criteria to Manual Computers only. It looks like that is not the case.

I gather you are after an Auto gearbox?

Maybe you could just start buying your groceries in smaller weekly purchases rather than once a month. :)

For the auto starter problem, isnt there just a switch for when the auto is N or P it is the only time it will start. So find this wire and connect the wires together. Or put a switch on it and use it as an eninge imopiliser.
