2H turbo diesel

Post by mudlux »

Do these engines like to be turboed? a mate has one with 270,000klm's on the clock and wants to add a turbo to it. The engine is in great condition.

a mate of mine did the exact same thing, went like a cut cat with a good exhaust on it sounded sweet too, I think we made a 3" one for it from scrap bits out of exhaust shop bins :D never got it tuned, just wound up the fuel mix a bit, we got it about 130km/h and I think it wouldh've kept going until something shat itself because it wasn't slowing down

Yeah, I turboed my 2h about 6 months ago. Goes great. It is more efficient around town than it is down the highway, however I am running 35's. If you keep the good oil up to it, don't thrash it too much, should last the distance. It has great torque characteristics for the off road punishment.

how about a H engine, anyone turbo'd one of them. looking into rebuilding the one in the 45, and wondering about strapping a small turbo to it to help with some added oomph.

it can be done for a lot cheaper (around $1000) if you do a custom job - get a turbo from a wrecker and booty fab the required manifolds and plumbing. paying to have one fitted starts around $3000 and goes up from there.
