Giday people...
I LOVE my PJ (96 JN 3500 Auto), and have had it for about two years now, but i am beginning to hate the fuel bill.
Has anyone Converted to gas to save on running costs? What about other mods to save on fuel? (a friend put in a different air filter, and one of those hurricain things on the air intake and said it helped)
If n e 1 has some more info, that would be great.

Pajero Fuel Economy - Will Gas Conversion Help?

been there, done that. After 3 gas conversions in cluding my Pajero (97 NK 3.5l) I now believe that a gas conversion is false economy.
Sure you definately save on fuel costs BUT IMO you pay out extra in other costs. like a backfire cost me my air flow meter in the Paj try $800 bucks for a newie. (yes I did have a backfire valve fitted) Also made the engine run hotter , cracked 2 sets of headers etc & of course your NJ is NOT gas ready. Cost me a new motor in my VK Commodore too. I then had an EA Ford which did do all right on gas but it has been the only one.
ANyway I got rid of the gas from the Pajero & run petrol only now.
SAve the money & use it for the ARB front locker when it comes available, you'll be happier!!

Apparently the 3.0l motors run OKish on gas but I had a 3.5l DOHC and was told by many that this motor is a big no-no on gas.
Didn't think it was worth risking ...
Also, before I bought the vehicle, I got it RACV tested and asked a few mechanics about any inherent probs with this vehicle and all they even said was "Has it been on gas?", "NO", "OK, it'll be alright then ..."
As thor said, just get is checked and serviced and should be OK. I used to run around 15l-17l of Optimax per 100 klms regardless of city or country driving which I thought was pretty reasonable. After all, it's not a race car and prob shouldn't be driven like one.
