If it's the carpet I had in mine which is a sort of plasticy stuff then the underlay is the main thing that soaks up the water and leads to the bad smell... Ditch the underlay and spray sound deadener on the back of the carpet instead :D

Sure it's the underlay that makes the car small bad :D :finger: :D

Sorry Sam, I have to agree with the others - remove that carpet if you plan on flooding the interior, or getting in and out of the car with muddy shoes on a frequent basis.

Plus, if you remove the carpet before it gets ruined, you can always put it back in at a later date if you priorities change with the car.

Cut the sections of the floorpans out and throw in some thick rubber mats.

When you say Soft top & Carpet in same sentence and worrying about it getting wet, does that mean you are planning to drive with top off in the rain???

I've re-read that sentence and can't find anything suggesting that there's anything wrong with doing that.
I do it,saves me cleaning the interior, and being rainwater,I know my zuk's getting the cleanest water around. ;)

if the rain is falling in the city it aint that clean or healthy. maybee you should consider getting moulded rubber rather than carpet

ive got moulded rubber in my 97 sierra and its so much easier cos u can just take all the seats out unscrew a few more things and then take the rubber out and then hose the bitch out, as for the radio thing i havent bothered putting anything expensive in to replace the stock radio cos it all gets covered in dust off road along with everything else, so rip out the carpet, whack in moulded rubber and roberts ur fathers brother

geez I didnt expect so many replies for a thread that was intended as a joke in responce to something that greg said in another thread, lol all helpful information, although I actually drive a hard top. I think though that my carpet will stay untill it becomes an issue, makes the car feel more (how can I put this) cosy.

I didn;t run carpet in my tin top, makes it easier to hose it out (Muddy size 15 boots)

I don't even keep the floor plugs in anymore
