Bill Lyne left Silvercity at 11.30pm last night and returned to competition. The french team also left at the same time. Also heard the Bushrangie was spotted heading for town on a trailer.

So far Laurie and Sean have completed stages with no breakages or DNF's. Romana tells me they are doing well.

Had another update from Darren and Sandy, they went into town last night for repairs, they were doing a SS just on dusk and were driving under what they thought was a branch with a few leaves and bang smashed into a big limb. Smashed the windscreen and had all sorts of dramas. They had to drive back to Broken Hill with Sandy holding the windscreen in with his feet!

Just spoke the boys again, fixed all their pervios dramas and got back on the road again and on the way back to Nundooka their 24v alternator seized, so they had to sit on the side of the road waiting for someone to tow them. Ending up sleeping with their helmets on they were that cold.

Steve Fowler drove 150k's into Broken Hill last night with only Long Range.
Mick Hingety has now broken his RHR Axle also.

About 17 cars were in at Silver City 4WD yesterday with repairs!

great reporting here, you gotta love the net for this type of thing. So is this years event harder than last years? What sort of feedback are you hearing from any of the competitors on how they think the event is. It sounds like it is getting to be a more and more big $ event. Do you think privateers in mildish vehicles are still an option for the event or is it now more than ever a full on comp spec only event?

MORE (Sorry for the delay but out late building rear bar for the 80)

*Colin Pond broke sector shaft @ Denine and may havee pulled out
*Henry turned up, a bit late but has auto issues and now owns ALL the auto fluid in the area
*Steve Fowler is back and going again after his SLOW trip the other nite
*Team Kiwi still doing good
*Hobzee still travelling on the original starting tyres PRO COMP X-TERRAINS with no patches and they handle realy good on road, even at 140kmh!!
*Diesel at Packsadle is $1.25/litre
*ULP at Packsaddle is $1.28/litre
*Steve Lowe & Cass Jones seem to be 2 of the fastest teams in their group
*Only 9 teams did mud SS yesterday but only 3 got any points.(poss group A)
*Bill Lyne has pulled out after breaking down for the 3rd time. This time possible g/box issues
*Sime Suzi went back to Mildura to get CV's
*Pepsi (Brian Peps...) doing well in 80 Series (believe std class)
*GU XTRA Cab ute (maybe Nick Mannell) has used some lesser technology to continue to alter the original shape of the GU but is still going
*Ron Hall has broken an A Piller and has also altered to body mounts some what.
*Lots have DNF'd Shifting Sands due to 1 marker but Hobbsy managed to get that one and finish with the most markers with 2 seconds to spare.

GRIMBO, I believe that the standard isn't any harder than previous years but some teams are installing too much technology on their trucks that is not handeling the abuse this type of event dishes out. There would appear to have been a few having issues with engine management computers and the like. Teams are always suffering some kind of problems on a daily basis but are still there at the end.
The only reason this sounds bad to some of you is that you're hearing about it on a daily basis via the net. For all the times I've competed there have been these sort of problems but you've never heard till the end. Remember this info is being relayed back from Hobzee and his group, The Fish's misses who are watching Group A and via Sandy in another group. There is another group we havent heard about ???
The main objective is to finish with respectible times, have no DNF and have fun.
I don't think its only for the money teams but we'll wait till Sat and see. I hope to be back next year in Buckers GQ which will not be a big money truck and we hope to be competitive.

Hi Jonesy and yes it pays to be cool if you want to finish first first you have to finish.

I have been reading the comments with pleasure and I think the missing group may contain Roger? as we have heard anything.

We are missing the adventure heaps. We hope to be there next year. See ya, Smithy

Hobzee has heard that Rog may have had some issues and suffered a few DNFs (shifting sands but don't despair as he believes so did a lot of others) but is still competing. As far as Allan Mai no idea but they may all be in the un heard about group.
I believe they have only today left as groups and tomorrow they will all be back at Nundooka and regrouped in order of placment for some more SS. Hopefully I hear from PROCOMP Hobzee and can update all you lot.

Pity about Mick and the Rangie busting both rear axles but no doubt he'll fix it and be back next year.
