Currently have a SWB MQ L28. We all know it's not a rocket ship on and off the dirt.
My brother and I are setting it up for short course racing and the extreme winch challenges and other stuff.
Extreme Winch Challenges has 2 categories based on engine sizes: less than 3.3 litres and above 3.3 litres. The cars above 3.3litres are BIG $$$ cars generally and have BIG HP.
So I want to know of engine swaps that I can do that are less than 3.3 litres. I am thinking of the 3 litre VL turbo...perhaps even some of the various Nissan Skylines with the turbos, and maybe even the twin turbo v6 from a Nissan 300ZX.
Does anyone have any experience in this area....and do any of these engines bolt straight up to the 4sp or 5sp MQ gearboxes?
I'll post a pic or 2 of the beast soon
Cheers

MQ Engine Swap Options < 3.3 litres
Just purely my opinion. I'd stay clear of a VG30DETT, even though an MQ has a fairly decent sized eninge bay, this engine is very big once all Turbos and such are hanging off it, and makes even a 350 Chev look small in comparison next to it. they can aslo be a bastard to work on and also costly. Just ask me, i have a 300ZX TT sitting in my shed with a blown engine.
Considering that the RB30 came out in a GQ Patrol, i am only guessing taking a EFI or Turbo engine from a VL then mating it to a GQ gearbox would be the easiest option.
Also with engine class sizes, is it specified purely on engine capacity and doesn't take into regards forced induction. As i know in some other forms of motorsport having forced induction changes the "capacity" they see the engine as.
