Simple Carb Cleaning Questions

Post by captahab18 »

I'm rebuilding my carb for the first time....my question is this...

How long do you soak carb parts for before you pull them out of the cleaner solution?

What solution or degreaser do you all use/recommend?

I realise its carbon build up that im trying to get rid of

The guys over at stupid cheap tried to sell me paint thinner....... I wasnt so sure about that one.

Some feed back would be great

as long as it takes to get the goo off. you might need to scrub a bit with a toothbrush or some steel wool. don't go crazy.

diesel, petrol, degreaser in spray cans, thinners, whatever is available, do NOT use the alkaline degreasers, they eat alloy carb parts.

it works pretty good. keep it away from plastic parts though. far cheaper than spray carbie cleaner.
