Transfer Mounts

Just a quick post....
Back up the driveway this morning and the transfer dropping about 4 inches. Upon inspection, the two LHS mounts were torn in half, both tailshafts drop out.
Lucky it happened in the driveway and not halfway through a wheel.

replace with two new mounts normally the 1 that lets go is the passnger side side due to the torque twist ..............and yes solid mount them i used and original body mount bush on the pass side with thebolt through the guts solved my prob ...................and yes this happened out on the trail buladelah way sugarloaf trial took a bit of lookin to find something on my pos that i could use to get me outta there n it worked that well thati decided to go and get some new ones to use aswell as spares ..............im pretty sure its still goin strong (now with a suped up motor after it blew :twisted: )

I have a method given to me by bigballsoffroad, seems very solid and easy to do.

Solid mounting gives too much vibratiion.

I'll draw a picture tonite (abit hard to explain) and post it tomorrow. Same :evilbat: time same :evilbat: channel

I use sierra engine mounts, gives better drum clearance, too. they can still bust under extreme conditions, but are in a cheap abundant supply.

Hey

Inventory

12 round bushes fairly firm approx 18mm thick (bushes from the top of shocky eye mounts are ideal)
3 bolts to suit
6 large washers (just slightly bigger than bushes)

I will post the pic any questions on method just ask, it should be self explanatory.......

The theory behind this is no mater which way the forces are placed on the box it is rubber mounted and you can't tear the mounts in half cause they are limited by the bolt :D

I have done similar to what you have described above and it works great, No vibrations, takes a lot of driveline slop out, as the standard rubbers let the transfer move around to much. I posted pictures on here under "SCUD PROOF" in the suzuki section and under XTREEM ZOOK in the members section. If the pictures are fixed shortly check them out. I used a sheet of urathane and used a hole saw to cut them out. But you can buy similar things from super cheap (sway bar bushes) which will do the trick.
SUZUKI Remember anything else is a compromise.
