I agree wholeheartedly with our ever so wise friend, Greg.
I made the mistake of doing a Corolla conversion on an early (1 Litre) zook years ago. It was the 1300 single cam engine I put in it, which, at the time, I thought was a good idea.
By the time I bought the kit from Dellows ($400 at the time), got the driveshafts and the jackshaft modified ($450 x 3), bought the motor & gearbox ($550) and then spent the fortnight fitting it and doing the welding, etc, it ended up costing me over $2500.
...and it only went 100 - 110 TOPS!!
My advice would be to spend about $300 on parts and totally reco your own motor. The Suzuki motors, even the 1 litre, go a shatload better than the 1300 Corolla motor did.
The only one I would even consider these days is the 4A-GE...and even then, I'd have to think REAL hard about it, as either the 1300 twin cam Suzuki conversion, or the G16A/B conversion would be a LOT easier, and give better results.

I have the 5k, 1500 in my Zuk and have had it there for about 6 years now. it is a good engine, lots of torque and the Toyota g/box I used has a lower 1st gear than a Suzuki one. It has served me very well
Would I do it again, no. It is an old engine using old technology. You are getting into custom parts like the jack shaft which has always been a problem. Then you have the worries of using an engine that was designed for a car not a 4wd so you have issues with water proofing and heat problems at low speed stuff.
Either get your engine rebuilt or move up to a more modern Suzuki engine whether it be a Sierra or a 1.6 Vitara engine

I've got a 3k 1300 carby in mine (was 1l) which was installed when I bought it. It goes well enough but no better than a normal zook.
I know it was done long ago when a replacement zook engine wasn't cheap but I don't think I could justify it personally. It still sucks on angles and takes some lovin to kick over in cold
Engine conversions cost $$$ no matter what, don't fu#k around with old tech garbage go an efi 1.6 I believe Greg could get you one for around $800
