Have you wieghed your GU with all the kit you have on it by any chance.

So were you happy with the engine enhancements? and the dyno report starts at 1600 +/- 100 rpm was there a second one done?

I haven't weighed it but would be bloody interested, especially once I get the long range tanks in and filled.

I am EXTREMELY happy with the Motsons. Blows lots of black smoke but low down torque is heaps better and much quicker off the mark. Fuel economy hasn't changed one bit and I give it plenty of boot now cause I can now.

No second dyno report but turbo starts to spool at 1500 with full boost at 2100 (set to 14.5 psi). I am thinking of upping to 16 PSI to see if any improvement. My calculations in increase work out to be ~115 kW and ~334 NM from the report but that is with 3" straight through as well. Gearing is a little off now (short) due to increase but who cares really.

Are you talking about that mob on the Southside near ARB? So they are OK? I'd like to know where to take the GU (when I get it).

So how do you work out the diff between rear wheel KW and what is at the flywheel.

So the three inch bring on spool earlier what is the size of the exhuast flange on the your turbo, I think the 3.0TDI is around 2 1/2 inch. Roly swears by the 3 inch I am a litte dubious as the exhuast shops I have been to reckon it wouldn't do anything, but they just fit stuff day in day out so I dunno?

I like the idea of a big lazy engine doing the work for me ,rather then a smaller higher stressed one.We are getting big kms out of old GQ 4.2s so tried and proven I say.
You might feed more to a draught horse then a shetland pony but the horse will do the hard work for longer.

I agree with some of that but mine has done 250,000 km now for a 2.8 GU and is still going strong. Had the turbo wound up to 16 PSI there for a year (no real gain) with no problems. Have had the Motsons on for 6 months now and the engine feels and sounds great.

You have to remember that it is a 6 cylinder though compared to the 4 cylinder 3.0 GU so that may help/make it stronger. I haven't heard of any problems that are common on the 2.8.

Percentage gain in improvement on dyno report and relate that to standard output figures - it is only very approximate that is why the tilde is before those figures.

3" didn't do anything for spooling up the turbo earlier but made a very slight improvement, I believe, in top end power and torque which makes a small difference in this high reving engine. However I think I lost some low down torque (before turbo spools up) because of it.

Not sure what the size of the exaust flange is. Might have to measure it one day but 3" is grafted on about 2" down flange mount.
