Started working on some chimp-style sliders for the Maverick on the weekend, which involved cutting some pretty heavy angle.
SuzukiViagra rang and said, "Hey Monkeyman, Supercheap has those big-assed metal drop saws on special for ninety-nine bucks."
So I thought - fuck it, I'll get one.
Well, this was actually a decent unit except for construction problems - the base is made of pressed sheet metal instead of being cast and machined, and/or the blade was not quite perpendicular to the pivot.
The combination of shitty construction and a perfectly adequate motor meant that it cut through the angle really nicely, but at an angle - the cut went off to the left by about 1mm for every 50mm of cut.
So I took it back the next day, the guy didn't even look in the box and just invited me to grab another one. Which I did - and it cut crooked too.
I suspect the whole discounted batch does, although if you were cutting smaller stuff than I was and if you weren't DEEPLY PEDANTIC ABOUT ANGLES as I am then you might not notice.
Anyway, despite the shitty nature of the item, I still give Supercheap the thumbs up because they gave me a refund on the second one and apologised for it not working, no hassles and no dramas, just good service from their staff.

Sounds like you got what you paid for
Got a few cuts done though - crooked but useable.
It was a pity since the motor and so forth on the machine was fine, and if someone gave me one for nothing I'd probably make a new steel base and keep it.

yeah I mean the blade was not perpendicular to the base (vertically) , and the blade was not perpendicular to its pivot.
Otherwise, yeah, it would just have been a case of moving the item I was cutting a little bit.

Zactly. Bought an electric sander there for $12.99... works fine, won't get used that often. I mean honestly, for thirteen bucks I don't ask for the world's greatest sander. It works, it's a simple device anyway... who's gonna complain?

ohhhhh shite... it really didnt look that deep!
whats expected
what do you expect they race falcons
You know it's quality engineered crap when you can find identical faults in multiple items, like when I found the right hand set of sheet metal punches on a new machine failed within an hour of the left hand ones after only 2 weeks use. Sorta like having a wheel bearing collapse then the other side go as you're pulling over
