Challenger 2000 model, dud or stud?

Thinking of buying a 2000 model Challenger but have heard some bad reviews about the 3.0 V6 engine and manual transmission. Anyone had any bad experiences with this model or have any advise????? :roll:

A friend of mine has had two Challengers as comany cars. Both had gearbox troubles (on the second car, synchro failed on 3rd gear after 17,000 km). The second had excessive oil consumption in the engine, which Mitsubishi tried to assure him was completely normal - 1 litre per 1000 km - 10 litres per service interval :shock:

He does drive them hard, which may have had an effect. Others on the Pajero Club forum are happy with theirs, apart from the comparative scarcity of aftermarket gear.

Cheers dude. Thanks for the advise, I think I'll stay away from them. Maybe that's wy their so darn cheap! :twisted:

Just remember the motor (3.0 V6 SOHC 24 valve) has been in Tritons since 1996 with very few problems I believe.
The V5MT1 has been around since the late 80's and has proven to be a reliable box it is the same box found in the Mitsu Canter truck series.
Traditionally Mitsu engines do use a bit of oil but both 3.0 V6's (12 valve & 24 valve) have proven to be good workhorses.
The 12 valve motor is a free spinner and a good honest motor IMHO but is no powerhouse especially in a lwb Paj. Looked after properly they can clock well over 300,000K's a mate in QLD has 450,000K's on his 3.0 V6 91 swb and it is still going........................
