WINCH COMP GEARING.(swap series 3 for 4.16)

Post by OVERKILL ENG »

As the heading says I am building my Zook up for the winch challenges this year and am williing to swap my series three transfer for someone with a CALMINI 4.16 transfer.
As the car is going to be driven hard and is supercharged then i DON"T want a ROCKHOPPER.
Thankyou

So what you are suggesting is that a S3 RockHopper is not as strong as a Calmini unit - is this correct ??

Looks like the warantee is now gone ..... I am sure there was a 12 Month warantee on standard engines and 90 Days on modded ones. Maybe the rash of breakage on the series 1 hurt..

For people too lazy to folow the above link I reproduce the relevant section below:-

Due to the nature of driveline modifications, the stresses of competition/offroad use/abuse and the many uncontrolled variables in what people consider to be reasonable use, we do not offer any warranty on drivetrain components whatsover.

No I am not saying that . I am saying that the reduction is to big for winch competitions.

winch comps are all about speed, you don't need the low down gearing a S3 gives. Combinded with the supercharged engine and the 4.16 will give a quick, responsive car

I recently bought a s3 as well if my gearing sh*t itself I would be asking for a warranty replacement as that was the case when I bought them.

maybe they should change their addy to www.bigballsup.com :finger:

Warranty is L-A-W law , it can be limited but not just withdrawn.

OK Now Im confused.
If I follow a different set of links on BigBalls website I find this:

Warranty is 12 months/ 20,000km (whichever comes first)

[Vehicles with non-standard engines: 90 day warranty only]
