Extending chassis

Howdy all,

Just wondering, does anyone have experience with extending the rear of a 40 series Landcruiser chassis to increase wheelbase? Is this a realistic option when doing SPOA, 60 series diff/spring conversion?

What are the engineering cert and registration issues/problems associated with this in Victoria?

of memory we extended BJ's chassis a total of 11 inches. Simply moved the rear hanger to the rear of the frame and had a new main leaf made. turn the front springs around and redrill the pirch.

im dont now about victoria but in nsw if you physicaly modify your chassis in any way i.e. cut and move. the car is then classified as an i.c.v which when engineered has to comply with all the latest emision rules

Hey Nick, have you got any pics of the work you did? That is exactly what I am talking about. What sort of materials did you use to extend the chassis and how did you fasten it? eg, weld and tapped?

Mudtoy, that is a good point, but one I think we could work around :D It would be a good opportunity to move the tank in behind the seats, do the susp/chas work and look at what type of extra LPG tank I can get into that area without fouling suspension.

Thanks dreama...I should be pretty kewl with emissions as I am running straight LPG.

The truck is getting there slowly but surely! Going to be doing a bit of serious work to the back end soon, so I thought I'd find out if anyone had done this type of work to see if it's worthwhile before trying to jump into it myself.

How's your lux coming along?

how much more wheel base are you after

turn ur front spring round 180 & also the rear around 180 ull end up with 98'' wheel base
