hey all i am about to order a marks duel transfer kit, for my gq extra cab.
i have scourced a 2nd transfer and all levers. whats involved, i had a look last night and the page said little. i looked and i was thinking:
drive shafts - lengething / shortening,
transfer case crossmember - move or cut out to allow front shaft to move with my 7 inch lift, 5 link
any more ideas before i lay the cash down
cheers bru

I was under the impression that the marks kit, is the 2nd transfer. You just bolt it between you gearbox and orig transfer case? This not true.
But yes then cross member will need new holes drilled. Then rear shaft shorter, front shaft longer. And cut a bigger hole in the tranmission tunnel to allow for the extra shifter.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY....
i have laid the cash down! its on its way. picked up my transfer case today
mark recon's they haven't moved that many kits yet, hence the limited instructions, they don't even have a price for the rebuild kits either as they haven't sold one yet!!!
lets do this

turps wrote:So does the dual kit thing just include an adaptor to mate 2 cases together that you have purchased. Or is it a new 2nd case you just bolt between the gearbox and you own transfercase.
This question does make sense doesnt it?
It is the adaptor to mate the 2 transfer cases together

Sweet cos in that case I already have 2 of them.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY....
gearbox - 1/3rd of transfer case (1) (part with shift lever) - adaptor - transfercase (2) complete.
therefore you need 1 complete transfer case
1/3 of another case
kit,
2 new fabricated cross mambers - cheezy does them
lengthened speedo cable
shortend, lengthend drive shafts

Probably better of with reduction gears. Unless you want to go to the hassle of lengthing your WB. As the adaptor adds about 9". Its that or is there any space to allow the motor to go forwards abit.

i wouldn't touch it on a swb, unless you use double cardian joints, and expect to replace them regularly. gq tray backs have double cardian front shafts might be able to mod those.
i haven't got mine installed yet cause it hasen't arrived. drive shaft quote was $120 +gst rear $170 + gst front (new tube installed) for balancing as well.
haven't bothered to see if shorty fit, i'm a fan of doing it right the first time and if it needs to be 1234mm for example i want it 1234mm - thats just me - hate fixing stuff, love modding stuff
cheers bru
