4x4'ing in WA.
Well, just got a job at the Mt Newman mine beginning in 2005, so as long as i finish my honours thesis satisfactorily, i will be over there at the end of the year. What is the name of the National park up that way? Whats competition 4x4 like in WA? Heard it is pretty non-existent.
Also, what is registration of vehicles like over there, rules, regulations etc.
Any information would be great.

The comp is close to perth but from what I have been reading in the tracks trip section the comp is pretty ordinary anyway.
As for tracks in the newman their is plenty room to move. Some great country side which is pretty rugged.
Congrats on scoring a mining job. Good pay up that way and 5 weeks holiday a year.

ok, now i have gotten thinking, i get all my stuff transported over, so i am seriously thinking about buying a toy in parts to take over, then build and drive... it is aimed at keeping me busy on the weekends when there is nothing to do.
So, i need a toy in parts. There is not much up there in specialty machining so i want something like a rolling chassis or a tube chassis to begin with.

Newman is along way from anything lots of desert and scrub country with some rock formations thrown in for good measure .The comp sene is pafetic as the only good comp isnt run any more due to club politics. If you get the chance come south in winter there are some good tracks to do down south. The guys from Opposite lock keep talking about a comp for hard core only but still hasnt got of the ground if your ever down Perth way and want a trip out drop me a line and well organise something for you no of a good rock crawling area if your interested
yeh, newman is miles away from anywhere thats why i want a rig to build first and then drive...
BJ, if you are seriously interested in selling it, would you pm me a round about price coz i will have to get something b4 i go over there.

If not... buy an old HQ 1 tonner and perfect your donut skills in the open pits

Another HQ out there...perfect!
You won't get bored on the mine you will be to busy trying to keep up with the ferals down at the pub.
Why do you need a chasis before you leave? If you decide to make a zook type rig we have a good supplier for the outback.

i dont have to get a chassis before i leave brisbane but if i get one prior to leaving the company pays for my belongings to be delivered to newman.
So money wise it would be worthwhile, not interested in doing donuts, can do that anywhere.
I want a rockcrawler to play with on my days off!
