P76 - Chev engine mounts

Hi everybody, I know this is not 4x4 related but some of you may have done this before. I know Mark's adapters do a Chev into Range Rover set of engine mounts. Does anyone know if they will fit where a P76 V8 once was? The reason I am asking is I want to put a 350 Chev into a Leyland P76 and I have heard that the P76 engine mounts are very similar to the Range Rover V8's. If the Mark's engine mounts will bolt up to my P76, it would make the conversion really simple. Mark's couldn't tell me. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

I think the P76 block and the RR V8 block have the same engine mount bolt pattern. But are Mark's adaptors weld on or bolt on? If they are weld on then they probably wont fit as the chassis rails on a P76 are probably a different width to your RR and you could make your own just as easily as modifying the Marks ones.

The Mark's adapters are bolt on:

"Engine mounting kits are available to suit GM engines. The engine mounts have been designed to bolt to the side of the GM engine and then bolt directly to the original Range Rover V8 pre 1996/ Land Rover V8 pre 1999 engine mounting rubber and chassis bracket. The original chassis mounts do not require relocation"

Does anyone else know? All I really need to know is if the P76 V8 bolts straight in to the Range Rover mounts. Some people say they need modifying, others say no.

i'll have a look at my rangie tomorrow and see if there is any visable modification to the engine mounts. I have a p76 in my range rover but unfortuantly i didn't do the install, the best i can do is check to see if there is any difference to the standard engine mounts compared to what i have.

The P76 engine mount brackets don't line up to the RR chassis. You have to either get brackets from somewhere like Marks, or slightly modify the top of the RR engine bracket so that the top hole on the block lines up. I did it myself.

The rear hole on the RR bracket has no corresponding place on the P76 so I left it out. The engineer who certified it made no comment.

The bottom hole on the RR engine bracket lines up perfectly with the P76, and you can use the standard chassis mounting point and rubber mounts.

I expect Marks Chevy to RR brackets are set up to line up with the RR chassis and you use the standard rubbers. Best to ask them...
