I use a slide hammer like this attached to the axle flange on the two M8 threaded holes.

Some people use a chisel between the axle flange and the wheel hub. If the sharp tip is aimed carefully at the gasket, damage to the surfaces can be avoided.

hrrrm dont use a chisel

there are normally two threaded holes in the end of the axle flange, put in some 10mm metric bolts (high tensile preferably) and wind it out!

wind each side a little, tap with a hammer on sides gently as it comes, and also spray 5-5-6 or wd40 as it comes, need to break gasket, should only be the resistance of the gasket , splines should come easy with no resistance at all, if its a lsd maybe take hand brake off.

there are also cone washers in the end of the axle flange, if you havent got these out theres no way that axle is coming out!

search under these forums for cone washer and youl find plenty of guideance on how to get em out, although they are still a pain in the arse
