Have a sick Rangie, Need Help ! 4.4 cracked rings, which is the best way to go ? Reco exsisting 4.4 or buy a 3.9 or 4.2 stroker complete ?

Would be cheaper to rebuild than replace with another unknown quantity.
Saddle up tonto, its the not so loanrangie! . 98 TDI DISCO lightly modded with more to come.

Also have 3.5 complete should I stroke it and does anyone know how much it will cost ? or should I rebuild 4.4 it has 3.9 injection and wolf ECU ?
Toorak Tractors recone it will cost $2,000 for 4.4 rebuild.
Which heads best suit it ?

stroker kits are easy t o come by.

rebuild what you have, then you will know what you have.
go with haltech ecu with the stroker kit.

I rebuilt a 4.4 motor to a 5 litre years ago. Had the liners presses out, the block bored and new liners fitted. Have a talk to Auscranks/Crankshaft rebuilders in Mebourne about the machining. They will offer some suggestions about what to do with the motor and approx cost or will quote for the work plus parts. They did a great job with my motor. The motors are simple to dismantle and reassamble yourself if you are game to try or a get a mechanicaly minded mate to help if you cant do it yourself.
