After the last Toolangi trip the Jabber started to overheat on the way home. The radiator was full of dried mud so I scraped/brushed enough of it off to make it home.
I removed the radiator last weekend and pressure washed all the crap out but it was still overheating slightly.
I traced this to the clutch fan virtually free spinning and not locking up.
So I started the search for a new clutch unit (Mitsu want over $500 new !!!!). The one in it was a 2nd hand unit from a wrecker which cost me $175 with the fan 2 yrs ago.
Autobahn have the Powermax brand clutches for $150 or the Davies Craig for $230 for a 3.0 V6 Jabber.
So I got a Powermax one (part no FC95) and it fits perfectly.
It's as tight as a drum like it should be, we'll see how it goes.

I just luv my "clacker Jabber"
I am glad to hear you stuck with the engine driven fan. Time and time again I have to remind people that the only reason electric fans were ever produced were for front drive cars and noise. No electric fan, suitable for a car, has even had the air movement of a clutch type.

For F#$k's sake it's just a fan.
I thought mine was cactus a couple of weeks ago because it was wobbling quite badly. On closer inspection it turned out to be the mounting bracket assembly for the fan had a worn bearing - $55 from a wrecker. Fixed not only the wobble but also a lot of engine bay noise.

I've been down this road as well, Vic. My clutch was pooched. I even swapped in an electric as a temp fix while waiting for my parts to come in. It didn't work for sh*t...
THe worst thing about a fan clutch going out, is that its so gradual that you don't notice it until one day you're going up a hill on a hot day, and you peg the red!

$500 For a fan Shit thats a lot cheaper than frying a engine out in the back blocks of no where and having to get somebody to rescue you
But then I supose Noisey will foot the bill for the recovery costs
