Stupid question

Post by Thonger »

Ok have prepared myself for flamage but, pulled and cleaned all my spark plugs last night. Mainly cause I have no idea when it was last done if ever. 5 had grey deposits, the other 3 black. Just wondering what the different colours indicate. Also cleaned the points in the dissy and rotor arm as well. Don't know a great deal about tuning and running a carby fed petrol engine, spent most of my time working on diesels. The reason I did this is that the motors been missing/backfiring at around 2800rpm, once she's warmed up a little. Thought it might be a spark problem.

Sweet, good info, but wondering if it relates to engines running unleaded, remember mate talking about how leaded cars would leave a grey deposit on plugs??
