Tranny Drama

Post by SimplyPV »

ok guys... been fighting with the tranny for the last 3 hours. i cant seem to get it to just go in right. looking at the truck, i can get the bottom, right side, and part of the top all bolted in no problem. but the left side and top just will not go in. cant get the bolts to line up or get them in..... :bad-words: i've tried relifting the engine, jacking up the tranny, etc etc etc. i've run out of ideas and am taking a break. i know the splines are lined up and the reason i can say that is because when i put the tranny in gear, i cant turn the crankshaft, but when its not in gear, i can. still cant figure out how to get it all lined up.... :bad-words: some help please????

PV it sounds like the splines are in the clutch disk but the trans. input shaft is not lining up with the pilot shaft bushing or bearing in the end of the crank. How big of a gap is there between the engine and trans.?

looking at the truck, right side can be closed up from top bolt to bottom bolt. left side is roughly an inch or so.... thats where i'm stuck at... cant seem to get it in there... and i would think everything is lined up since if i put the tranny in gear, i cant turn the crank. but when its out of gear i can turn the crank... no clue whats going on. what do you think?

is the clutch working properly?

I mean, if the splines have caught in the clutch plate, it might be stopping the engine turning in gear.

Try it in gear with the clutch pedal depressed.

Just ideas... good luck.

Short for "transvestite"- a male person who has decided to have a sex change and dress up as a female. Each to their own- PV shame on you!

or hopefully PV is talking about his transmission or gearbox?

Actually I think you'll find I've got a few more mods than you- my suspension height is about the only standard thing on mine. :P Remember I've owned mine for only 18mths too; lots of time left for more mods

Replacing the engine because you've blown it up is hardly a mod!

PV I'm sure the manual clearly shows where all the hoses etc hook up. Look in the Emissions section.

Yes, Yes just like Murcod says -

The manual clearly states where the girlfriend gets hooked up.

Look in the misses section.

Sorry, couldn't help that comment.
