Suspension for GQ

Ok guys and gals

I have read an awful lot about patrol suspensions in the past few weeks and I'm gunna throw it out there....

What is the "best" suspension combo for gq patrols??

4" lift 2" body?
6" lift no body lift
6" lift 2" body
3" lift 3" body

Don't be shy give me examples/pics and brand names to compare. Also tell me what size tyres go with what package the "best fit" scenario.

3-4" springs, no body lift, cut guards, suits Q78s with no rubbing.

i have 4 inch springs, ranchos , rts steer, no sway bars , have had no troubles for 2 years running 35s . only gone 2 inch body lift about a year ago . lots of corrogations and still have original shocks . turn them up if you want to stiffen it up on road. Liam at Big Balls has given very good service with everything.

4 inch coils and 40mm body lift and run some 36x13x16 swampers no problems at all

I have 2"susp and 2"Bl and am running 35"s. I reckon a 4"susp and a 2"Bl would be ample. No matter what you do you are going to have to lower the bump stops as the tyres are going to rub on up travel, so this will need to be limited.
Sparky has a 4"susp set up from dobinsons and it seem to work well.

I have 4 inch springs and 2 inch body with 35 tyres runs great

i run 6 inch coils, no drama's just moved rear lower shock mounts up higher. no wheel flares. had to chop my rear gaurds a bit as 35's rubbed a bit on full up travel just at the rear of the gaurds. 4inch flexes better though, but i found it to roll on road more so than the 6inch coils

i run 3 inch suspension and 2 inch body lift. GQ lwb wagon with 35 simex et s.Only slight rubbing on back of rear gaurd, oh yeah ,no sway bars...

Anyone got front end flex pics of a 4" coil and 2" body lift?

What brand works best for the 4" lift? Do I need to replace arms to get more flex for the front? If so what type?

That will depend on what shocks, springs, tires, swaybars or not, and many many other things.

What do you want from the car, that would make things easier to decypher

4 inch coils in front and running air bags in back fits a Q78 no worries

The rig will be a weekend warrior only only beatchinmin it will see is too and from wheelin so I can put up with some ordinary road manners so longs as it is legall (ish)

if its going to be a weekend beast if its a swb go 4 inch springs 2 inch body get rear a arm and a 5 link front chop the guards out and you can run up to 38's if its a long wheel base do the same but use 5 inch or 6 inch srings

The rig will be a gq diesel wagon.

So let me get this right:

gq wagon needs 5-6" lift with 2 " body to fit 38" is this right? (no trimming)

who do I go to for springs this size and most importantly what is the cost??

35's can fit with maybe just alittle triming or using spacers. Anything bigger and you will have to get friendly with the angle grinder.
You would also need to lower the bump stops to limit up travel, as even with 31's they will rub on the inside of the wheel well.
