there is nothing wrong with running that oil in your diesel. i run a penrite 20/60 as it give me better oil pressure at higher temps and last a longer than 15/40 oil

Oils have ratings for different engine types. Look on the oil next time. There will be something like SH/CJ - S stands for spark ignition (petrol) and C stands for compression ignition (diesel). The higher the letter following each is the oil rating in terms of how well it works in each engine (relates to additives to prevent wear, clean soot, etc). A petrol engine oil will not be rated as highly in terms of rating for compression engines. Many are as low as CC!!! So putting it in your diesel engine wouldnt be a good idea.
