There wouldnt be enough demand for them for the price they would charge.

I want one  .
Did here a story that nissan did bring one to Aus. It was only used for and overseas ad campaigne though. Bugger.
Also heard storys of some in QLD, But never actually seen one. I know poeple looked into getting them from NZ but the price started to get pretty silly. Almost worked out cheaper to get a LWB and cut it up.

Id rather a GQ shorty for $11k, and spend $20,000 on making it more than the shorty, then bank the $10k extra...

I drove one just like this in S.America, it was slightly used though. I really liked the truck, sure had a lot of nice features and seemed very capable for off-road.

How come the rest of the world gets them but we dont????

how come we have not had Patrols in the USA since 1969!?
why ask why....

they don't carry enough passengers to be exempt from the luxury car tax. if they did bring them in they would be about $5k dearer than the LWB. can't imagine they would sell many...

the mining spec wagons only carry 5 people, same as the shorties right? (no rear seats in the pov pack wagons)

I'd pimp one!

the pov pack wagons come in just under the price threshold. they could bring a pov pack shortie in, but probably not enough market.

Isnt there a swb with 8 seats or something, it has seats along the windows like a troopy.

I seen MQ/MK's this way. The high roofs but they had side seats in the rear, stock. I seen them both ways, normal and troopie style. Never seen a GQ or GU with that though....would be cool.

I found the link to a 8seater shorty.
http://www.nissan.com.sa/vehicles/patro ... ations.htm
Hardtops are the swb, comes in either 5or8 seater, in the S mdl.
Also can be had with the 4.5 and 4.8lt petrols.

The lwb comes in 7, 9 or 10 seaters.

No luck on a picture but am working on it.

The rear overhang looks pretty much the same as a wagon, if you had one, you could start by bobbing the ass a few inches

Had a mate that looked into importing one. During researching how to go about it he was told they wouldnt let them be imported privately as they where not different enough from the GU wagons imported by nissan. He found this odd as surfs could be imported and are the same as a runner, but that was the word.

There is a guy in Christchurch, NZ that runs the 4.8L petrol in a SWB GQ. Goes pretty hard by all accounts! Will find out in a few weeks time when he comes up for the local Winch Challenge :D

Cheers
