alternator

Post by huck »

I am having touble with electrical power. When I am in the bush at night with spotties on trying to do hill climbs or put the motor under load it starts breaking down. However when spotties are turned off it is fine. So I have come to the conclusion that it is my alternator. If this is so what is peoples thoughts on a solution. My little red monster is only a stock 1L with a motor upgrade on the approach. I am sure every one likes to be able to see where they are going in the bush at night. I am only running 2 spotties.

If everything is in working order, a zook electricals won't run good spotties, without good wiring/relay set up.

dont quote me on this but cant you put a subaru liberty alternator using the same mounts and everything, i have seen it done but cant remember from what year it is. gives better output. somebody here will know which year
Another quick fix is to simply upgrade the output wires to the battery which will improve charge input to bettery

I know the alternator from a Mazda KL engine will bolt straight to a G13. Puts out around 100amp.
Not sure if its the same situation for a 1L

After a quick google, it appears to be the motor in 626/MX-6/MX-3/Probe. Couldn't find any links with alternator output.
