ok i will attach pics of my zuk in one it will show the rust thats i spoke about in another thread

but seriously there has to be some thing missing from the centre cus there are wire hanging down for the radio or similar
does any one know how much all the inside of the instrument panel would be when i say that i mean the centre bit with all the lights to tell you when its in 4wd and stuff lol

Since your 'beginning', as a temporary measure,I'd just bog up the rust part and paint it to seal it from the weather. After you get it on the road and start to get the hang of the little chariot, the rust will probably start to come back through the gaurd. By this stage you will be keen as mustard for BIG (or at least bigger) rubber. Similarly, your skills will have developed and then start cutting the gaurds. I'd be finding an engine/g'box and getting it on the road first, and then starting the mods.
Ignore all of the above if you believe your skills are 'up to it' and start cutting and welding to make a little monsta truck. You just need to be confident that you can finish the job in quick time before you get frustrated and give up, leaving a half finished (worthless) project in the back yard.
Build it small, drive it big (to quote Greg).

Well said drewfus I think you need to drive a stock rig to get used to it then build up from there an learn to appreciate every little mod. Its a great start for a youngster and it looks in pretty good condition. It will be good to see all you progress as it comes along. Sometimes we all need to see the minor tech stuff so that we can work on your own cars.

The 1.3 litre swift motor will bolt up no worries .. The 1.6 swift motor requires either an adapter plate or gearbox mods ..
The 1.0 in good nick is actually not a bad little motor and can be supprisingly effective .. and with smallish rubber also very very frugal (best tank I ever got was about 500kms out of 35 litres .. not bad for a pre-jesus carbed motor)

Is it just me or is that a 1.3 litre dash in A 1.0litre tub??? Not that it is that important, but the fact that there is no brake booster inthere would seem to indicate that this might have been a potential problem. A member here in melb has just fitted a 1.6 litre booter to a 1.0 litre, but did have access to a 1.3 litre firewall to do it.

only 1300 swift to 1300 sierra 5 speed box will bolt on.
won't bolt to a 1 lite 4 speed, though a 1.0 litre swift may? christover

I'm pretty sure than the distributor drive will be different. ( it points straight out the back of the head on swifts, and has a right angle drive on the Sierras. In the case of a 1.3 swift to sierra swap, the head can be swapped, but the cam from the sierra must be re used, adding a fair bit to the job.
Is that exactly how you bough the car? It looks to me like someone thought they would build themselves a 1.3 and realised that it was more throuble than it looked like. However, it does allow the possibility of fitting a 1.0 litre dash to a 1.3 for than old skool feel.. or am I the only one who likes the whole oldskool feel of a 1.0?

a year at the earliest there isnt as much work as i thought likeh alf of it i can do myself like all the inside of the car is easy
the engine and stuff will be the most time consuming but i am going to rebulid every thing like take the diffs off and rebuild them
does the 1.0 transfer case have half decent low range ratio cus i got a bit of a scare on the long week end
we were in a quarry and we had to revers down and it just ran away heaps fast down the hill
