Steering wheel rod bearing. What to lube it with?

Post by captahab18 »

Its a newb question .....

In my fj40 there is a bearing just inside the ignition. Since I pulled the steering box out i figured since I had the wheel off I'd re lube the bearing in there.

So heres my question. Can i get away with using a multipurpose grease or should I use some light oil like wd40?

I'm leaning towards the grease but I just want to make sure.

From what i could tell it looked like a grease was used. It doesnt have to be anything fancy i would guess since its not a high temp or fast spinning location.

Just looking for some confirmation.

WD40 is not really a lbe. It will evaporate, use spray on chain grease, goes in wet evaps and leaves grease inside.
