want to buy used GQ patrol, but diesel or petrol ???
want to buy used GQ patrol, but diesel or petrol ???
Afternoon all,
After a long a grueling decission making process I think I have narrowed me next 4wd purchase to a used GQ patrol i can spent up to 15,000.
There are two schools of thought,
1. buy a 4.2 diesel and if need turbo it
or
2. buy a 4.2 petrol.
I will be using the patrol as my daily driver and using it to get away every couple of months mainyl beach work though.
what would you guys recommend for me ? the deisel or petrol ?
deisel sounds good for its economy, but is it really that much differnt ??
i have also read various forum discussions sayng that pertrol has more power any way ????

I,ve had both, petrol is great as long as you can afford the fuel bill. I converted mine to diesel from a petrol, just got sic of the fuel bill, plus diesel is more reliable in my opinion. The petrol used to bloody drink the fuel on the beach FAR OUT! THe diesel seems to be ok but it has got diffs, snorkel, k&N filter exhaust basically everything bar the turbo, but it is coming. Good power with 285's. 35's kill it a bit compared to the petrol but a turbo will fix that. Also much better resale value on a diesel as well. Don't expect to make money on a petrol.
