do a search. there was a thread about putting 7M-GE into a surf (3.0L inline 6, turbo version = 7M-GTE)

PM suprasurf, he wrote the thread about the conversion.

The motor im thinking of putting in is the 1JZGTE as it was a good fit and wanting to know what sort of box or who has the add kit for a 5 speed lux box the electrical is not a problem as a mate is going to it or if anyone has any sugestions on other engine swaps .

Well yeah it will fit, but you should run an R150, R151, R154 or W58 gearbox. John Douglas' 4 runner swap site will show you how to adapt these boxes to the transfer case i think. I bolted my 1JZ straight up to my R151 with Dellow bellhousing, so that was easy for me. Extracting bulk power out of these things is easy, ive got 300 kW at the fly with the standard turbos and my injectors maxed out :D

Have a chat to Rod of Lockleigh Enterprises just out of ACT at Hall.

He's raced a turbo lux in the aussie offroad racing scene for a while and I believe he's still got it (no longer competes). Sorry don't have more specs but I'm sure he'd be happy to advise.

He does kick ass barwork and most of the cages for many local rally cars and 4wds around (and out of) town. I can highly recommend the quality of his barwork.

Low down grunt is awesome, the little turbos spool up very quickly, you can even make positive pressure when free revving the engine. With the short 1st gear ratio of the R151 it is actually very annoying to drive around town, cause you gotta hit second straight away. I tend to not even use first gear around town at all.
