1st roll over

was in first roll over on thurs night. not my car but a mates custom rangie.
he just replaced front axle and we (3x 4b's) went down to a back paddock to check it out. on the way back we decided to chuck a donut. (bad idea). although at the time I was in agreement on the idea. well half way round the front came up, back went in and over it went. drivers side then on to roof. luckily we had harnesses on and a big internal roll cage, (note we had it in 2wd and the rear diff lock in) (another note- its hard to get out of a harness when its holding you off the roof). although my mate was wishing he had put some padding on it when he came out with a golf ball on the side of his head. lots of loose thing in the cab = missiles in an accident, not sure what hit me but I head butted some shapnel. the cv and short side axle stub made its way out of the car through a window and ended about ten metres away.

red zook, it was scott's yellow rangie that he had at booral. he is now keen for the next one because its already rolled and panel damaged. the thing flies, but maybe its too high?

nasty, i've seen 2 roll overs from people trying to do donuts with diff locks on, both cars have been write-offs, so i avoid them now

he's a panel beater so it will be back, but he was saying he won't fix it for the next winch challenge, because it may happen again and he hasn't comp'd it before so he is still learning how it controls and drives. obviously tested a bit too hard.

Nearly done this myself a couple of times doint U turns and having fun.....

Now I only do this sorta stuff in the wet.... too much traction can be a biatch sometimes.

Saw the damage yesterday, things to note:

-well built rollcages are a good thing
-safety should be taken serious (a good lesson for Scott, the driver)
- 'loose' stuff, either in the cab, or on the tray is not acceptible. Just think of how many people (quite often wreckless P platers.......yes I was one once) drive round town with speaker boxes and the like just sitting in the back seat or on the rear parcel shelf, not restrained.......
-donuts in the dark in vehicles with 'soft' and flexy suspension whilst wearing simex tyres are not recommended (unless your in the mud and prepared to get dirty, then it's good entertainment.... ).

The rangie looks 2nd hand, but still safe and complete (well as soon as we find another windscreen). looking on the bright side, won't feel intimidated next time it looks like getting bent. That's gotta be positive thing

yeah I would say yes, the roll cage and the harnesses get the thumbs up. and are highly recommended.

he didn't do the donut with simex on it, that WOULD be stupid, come to think of it, even muds were a little too grippy.

Is the rolling rangie a custom yellow trayback bobbed thing. If so saw it near maitland thursday, still with dented bonnet etc. Looks the goods though, very nice.

yeah that would be it. he got another windscreen in it and will be at the winch challenge this weekend competing.
but I don't think I'll make it. but I'll try.
